Hiccups

For those who visit this page on occasion, you may notice a few hiccups – it’s taken me forever, but I am finally working on getting our storefront set up so we have another avenue to try to make this farming thing work. It’s been a tough go trying to sell enough of our products through word-of-mouth, the HOMEGROWN Farmstand, ads/price lists posted, the adoption of our Sausage Society Loyalty Program (I think I forgot to mention that here) and so on, so this is just one more expense … I mean option for trying to make it easy for our customers to find us and hopefully purchase our meats and other items.

Oh and yes, we started the Ravenwood Acres Sausage Society Loyalty Program this summer – the brainchild of long hours driving back and forth to Kamloops for 3 months while our son Chase recovered from another round of bowel perforation and sepsis. Terrifying and we had need of distraction. He is okay now, thankfully, and our SSLP was just starting to pick up when we ran out of money and couldn’t get sausage made, then we managed to scrape up a few bucks to get sausage made and the butcher messed up our entire sausage order. We are still trying to clean that up and recover from losing the cost of growing the pigs, processing the pigs, paying for the sausage and then not being able to sell any of them as they will pucker your lips and dry you from the inside out from excess salt. So sad. But don’t let that stop you from buying our sausage – we would never compromise one the quality of products that we well to y’all.

We are also trying to come up with some other ideas on growing our customer base. We have a few ideas that we hope to incorporate over the next year or two. If you have any suggestions, please chime in.

One of these ideas is a newsletter – I know, it’s pretty old school these days, but it will help us communicate specials, Farmstand hours, Meat Boxes and bundles and many other things with those who specifically subscribe because of their interest. I thought it might be fun to have a newsletter recipe exchange – yes? No? Well, sign up anyways!
